Podcast: 1-31

So, this week we are going to take a break from the Catalyst Podcast and listen in to Mars Hill.  In this podcast the church from Michigan welcomes Shane Hipps as their new Teaching Minister.  They have a very interesting story of how Shane was called to Mars Hill.  I won’t spoil it for you, but the picture is a big hint.  I look forward to getting together Sunday and discussing everyone’s thoughts from this podcast!

Haiti

Here’s where you can go for the latest updates from contacts in Haiti. They have been sending emails to those on the SECOC email list. But I know some of you are not on that list. One of our contacts posted a very detailed account of their day yesterday…

Hope for Haiti’s Children

Rick spoke during class last night and said that the funds raised for HFHC will likely be used as a second wave of relief, once the Red Cross and other agencies have had time to work and assist. The best thing we can do right now is pray, and of you want to give money to help Haiti RIGHT NOW donate to the Red Cross. Also Sunday there will be more information along with some special prayer and praise time dedicated to Haiti.

Podcast: Lifegroup 1-17-09

Podcast of the Week

For those not at our last Lifegroup, we are going to try something a little different.  A podcast.  We will be posting on Wednesday a podcast that we will use for discussion on Sunday night.  You don’t have to listen to the podcast to participate.  However, we hope that this will stimulate some good discussion when we come together as a group.  Also, this can be a great way to introduce someone new to our group.  The idea is to have a podcast that anyone can listen to and then come discuss while enjoying some good food and fellowship.  To begin we are listening to the Catalyst Podcast, which interviews a variety of prominent authors, leaders, and church ministers each week.  As we try this out please give me your feedback as to how you each feel this is working with our group.  Feel free to suggest a new podcast if you already are subscribed to something you feel would fit well.

So, this week you can download the podcast from I-Tunes, or off of the Catalyst website.  The information is below.

I-Tunes-Catalyst Podcast- Chris Seay-Special Edition (12/24/09)

http://www.catalystspace.com/content/podcast/catalyst_podcast_episode_special_edition/

As you listen this week, I am interested to hear your thoughts on Chris’s view about Christmas and Consumerism.  This is a short one, coming in at 10:23.  Future podcasts will be longer, but this will be a good one to get started on.

We will be updating the blog again Friday with this week’s Lifegroup home, and food of course!

Life Group 011010

Life group this week will be at 5:30 pm at Cade’s house (830 Knotty Elmwood Trl, Houston, TX).  We will be having lasagna with something like bread and salad on the side (I normally view food served with lasagna as garnish provided purely for appearances).  I will make cookies for dessert.  I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again.  Please leave a comment if you have any suggestions/requests that might improve your Life Group experience.

PS For those of you who care, I am now fully caught up in LOST.  Also, all episodes from all seasons of LOST are now available on hulu in case you have a favorite episode you’d like to rewatch but no DVDs.
