Life Group 5-2

Life group this week will be hosted by Ashley and me.  We will be at the park just past our apartments on Westminister Dr in Pearland at 5:30.  To get there from Friendswood, take FM 518 toward Pearland.  Turn right on Westminister Dr (just past Kelley’s Restaurant).  Drive past the apartments and just past the first stop sign, Hyde Park will be on your right.  We will provide pizza and drinks, but would love for someone to bring desserts.

We will not have a podcast this week, instead we will enjoy fellowship with each other and play at the park.  Bringing camping chairs is encouraged because seating is limited.  There is a slight chance of rain for tomorrow night and in the event that it does rain, Cade has graciously offered his home as a backup.  We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow!

At last! Info for this week’s Lifegroup

If you are like Cade, your anxiety might have reached critical levels at the lack of information regarding this week’s Lifegroup.  Fear not; in a few short sentences you can resume normal breathing patterns.

It was remarked last week that we have not had a Game Night in some time, so we are going to suspend the Podcast-of-the-Week.  Instead, the only preparation you’ll need to do is brush up your MarioKart skills (if someone brings it, at least).  The menu for the night is taco salad, and we are looking for a few items to make it complete.  In the comments, tell us what food and/or game you plan to bring.

We already have:
Chips
Taco meat
Lettuce
Tomato
Cheese
Kidney beans (Yuk!)
Refried beans
Sweet tea

A Wii with two controllers

I can’t wait to fellowship with you all and for you to see Maren’s bad side when she loses a game.

(For a start, we need cups and plates and utensils and your fine china.)

Life Group 8/9

Hey all, we’re looking forward to sharing life with you tomorrow at Casa Boudra.  Mark and Beverly Smith will be joining us to share their recent experiences on the trip to Haiti.  We’ll be meeting at 5:30 and we’re hoping to serve up something delicious.  We’ll be cooking a chicken/stuffing/shells/cheesecheesecheese wonderful casserole that’s a favorite of Josh McQuinn’s.  We are looking for volunteers to bring salad, cups, drinks, bread and dessert.

Side note:  Be sure to congratulate Billy and Jared today.  They have successfully survived another trip around the sun.

Life Group 7/19

Join us at the Boudra’s for Taco Night (I’ve been in the mood for tacos) and our next installment in the Hosea series.  As an added bonus, Cade and Shauna have begun (and nearly finished?) the first season of LOST.  Celebrate with them (but DON’T SPOIL them).

We are looking for volunteers to bring (A) lettuce, (B) tomato, and (C) cheese.  Also, since so many are out of town, could you give us a heads up if you are planning to be here by some socially acceptable means (comments, text messages, emails, phone calls, facebooks,…face-to-face?).

For directions, either call or check here.

Sunday Lifegroup

After our announcements in class and the last blog post, we have received zero offers to host Lifegroup.  If no one is able to host it this week, it looks like we will not be able to have it.  If you will be able to host it, please either leave a comment on this blog, or email Ben at benjamin_crain@hotmail.com  We also need someone to host group next week, so if you can’t do it this week, please think about hosting next week.  We appreciate your help with this!

Trunk of Treat – Sunday, October 26

We have mentioned this in class, but I have some more details for this Sunday evening and the trunk or treat:

The goal for Southeast this year is 100 cars in the parking lot participating. This has turned into a huge community event and they enough representation to handle all of the kids that will be coming by that evening. So, anyone who is involved with our class or part of our group is encouraged to have a car there with decorations and candy. Anyone can do it, but they especially need the folks out there who do not have kids and who won’t have other responsibilities. Care can begin arriving at about 6:00 and the line of kids will start about 6:30.

This will take the place of Lifegroup Sunday night, so we hope all of you can attend. If you have any questions about the event, you can email Karis at kmcquinn@secoc.org or Janel at jhopper@secoc.org.

See you there!

Lifegroup- The God’s…Still Not Angry

This week we will pick up again with Rob Bell’s “The God’s Aren’t Angry”.  If you haven’t been a part of this discussion yet, it is easy to jump right in.  This will be the 3rd of 4 video segments we will watch and then discuss.  Before we view the man in glasses though, the Crain’s will be providing homemade stew, and fresh baked cookies for dessert.  We will begin eating around 5:30 as is the norm, and start the video about 6:30.  Hope to see you there!
